Dear Rush Residents,
In recent months your Rush Republican Town Candidates have
been positively campaigning throughout the town, providing their
qualifications, answering your questions and addressing your concerns. They have clearly laid out their “Pledge to
You” which is printed again at the end of this letter. Hopefully you have had the time to read their
literature and meet with them during this time.
During the campaign we have become aware of the competition
making many incorrect and unfounded statements to which we have not responded.
However, we have decided that we need to respond to a recent letter from the
Rush Town Democratic Leader. His letter has significant misinformation and
statements which are simply untrue. We ask you to consider the facts when you
vote on Election Day.
Over the past 12 years your Town Administration has worked
diligently to maintain the rural nature of our community while improving the
quality of life and maintaining a stable tax rate. Initiatives have included remodeling the town
hall and library complex, expanding recreation facilities including the new
picnic pavilion, ball fields and playgrounds at a financially responsible pace,
maintaining comprehensive recreation programs and the recent acquisition by the
town of over 320 acres of land, at no cost. This land has the potential to
serve as an important green-way and park land for generations to come.
An area of frustration for all of us has been the lack of
retail development in the hamlet of Rush. We would all like to see the development
of the old Rush Big M property move forward to enhance the hamlet and provide
us an additional shopping alternative.
As the property owners stated in their letter in last week’s Genesee
Valley Penny Saver, “The Rush Town Board and everyone at the Rush Town Hall
have been very cooperative and patient.”
While thanking the Board they affirmed their commitment to the project
and noted that in this economic climate completing the financing has proven
slower and more difficult than expected.
This year’s Republican candidates are committed to continuing to assist
the Big M owners in any way possible, short of subsidizing the project with
your tax dollars.
Once again, we offer a group of highly qualified candidates
seeking an opportunity to continue to serve the interests of all Rush
citizens. They are proud of Rush and
committed to maintaining an open government and working with citizens and
businesses to further improve the Town.
In recent town elections only 50% of eligible voters have
cast their ballot. Please assure the future of Rush is not left to the decision
of a few.
Vote on Tuesday November 8,
2011.
Donald T. Eichenauer,
Rush Republican Town Leader
