Rush Republican Committee Survey Results
The Rush Republican Committee thanks those who took the time to return the survey even though it was not the error free process we intended to produce.
- 70% of the respondents support higher density residential housing (such as patio homes and townhouses) and/or increased business presence in the town to broaden the tax base and minimize town taxes.
- 62% of the respondents would not support the town continuing in the 100% taxable assessed value system, which could result in the town to reassess at any time (meaning in any year, possibly every year).
- 60% of the respondents would not support a change in the law, allowing recreational vehicles, including boats, to be parked in front of a home on a driveway or lawn, to within 25 feet from the edge of the road.
- 84% of the respondents agree with the Town Board's approach of determining if the pavilion meets the needs of the town before considering the construction of a multipurpose community center at the town hall complex.
- 60% of the respondents use the town website to remain informed about town issues.
- 95% of the respondents would attend a "Town Hall" style meeting, on a topic of interest, and share their thoughts with elected officials.
- In the concerns/comments section of the survey, the respondent's major issue was controlling property taxes.
